Fleas can be as bad and annoying as mosquitoes for sure. They cause as irritating of bites as mosquitoes as well. We all want to take care of our furry family members and keeping them free of fleas is one of the best things you can do.
If you or someone else is struggling in a flea infestation, first thing to do is consult a vet and get the animal on flea medication. This will be one of the best things that helps the treatment process. A technician can treat all day long but as long as fleas survive on the pet away from the chemical the issue will linger.
That brings up a good point, its important to not over bathe your pets for fleas as it would only cause the fleas to build chemical resistance and irritated skin for the pets. Fleas do not live on the host, in fact they hide under tight crevices and in small spaces around where the pet will frequent, so like a cage or a bedding spot.
This requires that the second most important thing to pair with professional treatment is vacuuming. This will help get up any eggs or live fleas around the inside of the home. Since they may reside under baseboards, using a crack and crevice tool to reach these spots is critical. Vacuuming should be done before and after treatment up to 5 days.
And with that, all that's left is a professional to apply chemical around the home and around where the fleas may be. Even if this is an outdoor only situation, lawn care is as important as the care inside.
